Why We Need Your HelpWhy we need your help for Compassionate Dementia Care?
Only ten years from now, over 5,000 people in the Mid-Island area will have some form of dementia. Someday soon, you are going to know someone with dementia - a grandparent, mother, father, sibling, spouse, dear friend or neighbour.
Nanaimo Travellers Lodge (NTL) is the only facility dedicated to dementia care in the Mid-Island area. We are working hard to ensure dementia sufferers have excellent, compassionate care today and in the future by building a larger, more appropriate facility.
But we can't do it alone. Your help is needed. Nanaimo Travellers Lodge is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of donors like you to ensure that Elders with dementia receive the quality of life and services they deserve. While NTL receives funding from the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) and some fees from families, these funds do not cover the full cost of providing a secure and enriched environment for dementia sufferers.
