Deciding to Move into CareCaring for someone with dementia at home is an enormous task, and when it becomes too much for the caregiver, the time has come for full-time help. However, making that decision to move a loved one into care can be extremely difficult.
One way to ease the transition into care is to enroll the Elder into our Daybreak Program if you haven't already done so. You are also free to visit Nanaimo Travellers Lodge to get a feel for our programs and activities, and what daily life is like in our home.
If you are interested in having a loved one come to live at Nanaimo Travellers Lodge, your starting point is contacting Home and Community Care at the Vancouver Island Health Authority at 250-755-6229. Their Long Term Care Case Manager will conduct a long-term care assessment and, if appropriate, a referral to the residential care waitlist will be made.
