Future Home on Northfield Road - Eden Gardens
Nanaimo Travellers Lodge (NTL) is planning to launch a capital campaign to raise money toward some of the cost of a new $35.8 million dementia care facility on Northfield Road in Nanaimo. This facility, to be named Eden Gardens, will be the future of dementia care on the Island. It will replace NTL's aging facility; increase the number of residential beds from 90 to 120; and, expand the space for the Community Bathing program and other vital day programs that help to keep people with dementia living in their homes for as long as possible.Make a donation to the building campaign
The new facility is being designed specifically for Eden Alternative compassionate dementia care. Eden Gardens will offer a village-like atmosphere with a mix of public and private spaces that translate into being a "home" for the Elder residents. It will be a two-storey, wood framed building. The facility will feature 50 per cent private and 50 per cent public common area, with both areas offering a secure, safe environment for Elders and their families. Public and private areas are designed to promote both independence and connections for Elders.
